Orb caught forming

Orb forming
Does this photo show an insect being caught in the act of becoming an orb? It certainly seems to!

The photo shows a groups of insects illuminated by sunshine. The insects are at a critical distance from the camera where some are in focus while others (closer) appear as orbs. The two large round blobs are insects orbs while the angular object just above and between them is an insect that is in focus. It's odd shape is caused by the distance it has moved during the exposure.

The fourth object, in the top left of the photo, appears to be a sort of hybrid

between an in-focus insect and an orb. It is less angular than the in-focus insect, not as bright and appears to be surrounded by a tiny circular orb, very like the much larger blobs nearby. It looks to be insect at the critical distance where it is turning into an orb!

If anyone needed evidence that insects produce orbs then here it is - one caught in the act of changing!

More information on this experiment can be found here.

Training weekend 2008

Following last year's successful new training weekend the date for this year's event has been announced. It will be at Beverley Friary in
Yorkshire on 22-23 November 2008. Pre-bookings now been taken here. The event is for members only but there is plenty of time to join before then!

Training investigation 2008

ASSAP held a Training Investigation at Oak House, Birmingham, on 29 March. Some trainees wanted to understand more about scientific investigation methods and others will be using the 'investigation' as the basis of their report to become an AAI.

Trainees reported having a great time, while demonstrating their commitment to science and ethics by designing an 'investigation' with the lights on and EMF meters firmly put away!

Photos from the Training Investigation are now viewable on our facebook group.

Merlin re-awakens

ASSAP ran a research project over a decade ago to investigate many aspects of the paranormal. The project, the Merlin Matrix, is being revived with many new experiments. More soon.
